Thank you for thinking about
helping with maintenance at the 1st Hoveton and
Wroxham
Here is the information about this role in
Scouting.
What needs maintenance?
At the 1st Hoveton and Wroxham, we own our own
HQ building. We also own all sorts of equipment for
Scouting activities. Things like boats, tents, games
equipment and much more.
There is a lot of wear and tear at Scout meetings and
everything is liable to need maintenance and cleaning at
some point.
Some things need regular maintenance and cleaning to make
sure they are safe or looking smart. Other things get
broken and need attention from time to time
The HQ building needs regular inspection and cleaning and
the grass has to be cut and the weeds kept down in the
warmer months.
What Skills do I need?
You need typical Scouting skills to be honest. Flexibility
is probably the most important thing. You need to
recognise that things need fixing or cleaning and then get
the job done. Sometimes, you will be able to do this
yourself, in other cases you need to find an appropriate
person or company to sort out the problem. Self confidence
and a can do attitude are what you need. If you don't have
these skills yet, you will certainly have then after a few
months in this job role.
What about training?
You don't need specific Scout training for this job, but
if you do need training for a specific task, we can
arrange it.
Do I need a DBS check?
No, but if you want to join in with the wider Scouting
activities that we do then it is a good idea to get one.
We will arrange this for you.
Do you have what it takes and can you
help?
Why not join us and make a real contribution to your local
community, to local young people and to the future.
Not only this, you will gain new friends, new skills and
something very special for your CV.
