GROUP CAMP 2023
It is so nice to be able to go camping
together as a group again. This year our Group Camp was
at the fantastic Mike Thurston Water Activities Centre
at North Walsham and we had over 60 people camping and
enjoying a wide range of activities.
The District climbing tower was on site and we had a
range of things to take part in which included:
Rifle Shooting
Climbing and Abseiling
Kayaks
Sailing boats
Traditional Raft Building
Crafts
Paracord
Hikes
Badges
Challenges
Cooking
Camp fires
and much more.

The weather was kind although it was a bit cold at
night. We would like to thank our friends at the 3rd
Bromley Scout Group who came along and gave us such good
support as well as their good company.
Of course, what you really want are photographs, so here
are some:

Every good camp needs a pile of pallets. We took 60.
They make kitchens, they make furniture, they make
seats, they make lovely hot fires for cooking and much
more. Some people just enjoy bashing them with
hammers.

As it gets darker we all need a marshmallow.
Preferably hot and black.
.jpg)
How many have you had? - Well I had eight so far.
.jpg)
Toppers are great fun to sail but get it wrong and in
you go.
.jpg)
This is what happens when you capsize. Safety boats
were on hand.
.jpg)
Its amazing what you can make from a pallet. Extra
points for imagination.

Nigel demonstrates how to make a raft. You use a
traditional square lashing and it has to be tight.
.jpg)
Rafts head for the water, but will they float?
.jpg)
We are floating and the lashings were tight.
.jpg)
So, if we are still afloat, it must be time for some
raft races.

Are we winning or just going the wrong way.

Tables can be made out of pallets. Marc demonstrates
an unusual way of doing it.

The Beavers were at camp for their sleepover. That
tent looks cozy.

This year, the Patrols put on some excellent camp fire
entertainments. This one involved dance.

Camp fire stories are always popular

Washing up is a chore at camp, but this site has
special sinks.

The campers had a challenge to make a present and
cards for Terry who had a special birthday. Here we
see him being presented with a camp bird box.

Thanks to Rob and Nigel for the camp
pictures. There are more. Ask if you want them.
Beaver Sleepover 2019 - Superheroes
Once again, our band of brave superheroes set out to
save the World. We only had a couple of days, but we
managed to save it no less than four times. Oh, and we
defeated The Joker, The Riddler and a Mad Scientist.
Plus we did our bit for conservation by saving the rare
ground parrot. It's all in a day's work for the Beavers.

As the chefs were here, we could all make some lunch

The "Beaver Moon"
Sleepover Christmas 2018
The late November full moon was a "Beaver Moon", so
what better reason to have a sleepover and work on our
Space Badge. Oh... and we had a Christmas Party too.
OK, it was a bit early but we are all excited.
The Beavers slept in Space Stations they had made
(which looked quite a lot like cardboard boxes).
The Christmas dinner was fantastic and Secret Santa
left presents for all of us.

Cub Camp 2018
Can you guess the theme?
The camp was in May 2018 and combined
both our Packs and was held at the 1st Cromer HQ. We
had fantastic early Bank Holiday weather.
Cub Camp 2017
The theme this year was "Flintstones" and there were
some great costumes on show. The camp was held at
the 2nd Hellesdon site near Norwich Airport.

Wilma, Betty and Friend
Beaver Sleepover May 2017
Now we have our fantastic new camping field next to
our HQ, why not have a sleepover there and try it
out? So this year the Beavers took part in a Harry
Potter themed sleepover which was wizard fun. Here
are some pictures. There are lots more on the secure
website, just ask us for the key.

2016 in Pictures with Wednesday Cubs
Here are the Cubs on a boat trip

Naturalist Badge on what was a very wet day.
Thank you to Simon from Broads Tours.
This is the MacMillan Coffee evening. The Cubs
decorated the cupcakes and served cakes and drinks
to parents and guests. They raised £46 for the
charity

Beaver Winter Sleepover 2016
It was the first time we have tried a winter camp
with the Beavers and it was a really fun event with
both Colonies combining to make 2 days of Beaver
mayhem. We stayed at the new Scout HQ in Buxton
which was a great venue and nice and warm on a very
stormy night.
The theme was Chinese New Year and we made snakes
and a dragon as well as eating a Chinese banquet.
The night hike along the river by Buxton Mill was
fun too.
Here are some pictures showing us in action:
Beaver Sleepover 2015
This year we had a "Pirate" theme and no less than
34 Beavers joined the Camp. We spent the afternoon
at Bewilderwood in the absolutely pouring rain. The
Beavers were all soaked, covered in mud and having a
fantastic time.
Here are some pictures:
